ONE-TO-ONE TUITION
I respond to each pupil's needs and abilities. Over the years, I have explored a wide range of methodologies and repertoire. This knowledge allows me to shape what I do so as to bring out the best in every pupil and ignite their curiosity. If you want to learn more then get in touch.
ONLINE AND/OR IN-PERSON TUITION
I resumed face-to-face tuition when Covid restrictions were lifted in May 2021.
However, I recognise that some pupils may prefer to continue with digital lessons and I am happy to offer this service on an ongoing basis. It doesn't have to be one or the other. A few face-to-face pupils take the odd digital lesson when this is more convenient and I'm always delighted to see an online pupil in person if they happen to be in Inverness.
It may be of interest to note that Trinity's digital exams will also continue to be offered once face-to-face examining resumes. This means music exams are easily accessible even for pupils living in remote locations.
PREPARATION FOR EXAMS
I have presented pupils for music exams since the year I started teaching. I use the Trinity College London exam board and prepare pupils for exams at all levels from Initial right through to Trinity's diplomas (ATCL etc, post-Grade 8 qualifications).
We are fortunate enough to have a well-established Trinity Exam Centre here in Inverness. As well as sitting exams live in Inverness, pupils can also enter Trinity's Digital Exams by recording themselves playing the exam pieces and then submitting the video for assessment.
Whichever pathway is chosen, candidates can be confident that they will be well prepared. As an examiner myself, I have a very clear understanding of the standards required at each level and most of my pupils pass exams with Distinction (the highest band of marks).
In addition to Trinity's exam syllabus, I am happy to support my piano pupils as they prepare for the practical component of their SQA music exams or to prepare them for exams in music theory.
